Excel-HW-3: Excel Range Names and Formulas


Description

The purpose of this assignment is to experiment with Microsoft Excel named ranges and using them in spreadsheet formulas.

Instructions

  1. Download file hw_excel_L02P31.xls and open it in Microsoft Excel.

  2. While working with Excel, save your document often. Give it a descriptive name, for example, "PurchaseOrderSample.xls".

  3. Select a region of cells A13:A15. Insert and define a name for this range: quantity.

  4. Select a region of cells G13:G15. Insert and define a name for this range: price.

  5. Select a region of cells I13:I15. Insert and define a name for this range: amount.

  6. Click on cell I13 and enter a formula =quantity*price.

  7. Use auto-fill function to populate remaining Amount fields with the same formula.

  8. Click cell H17 and enter a new text label: Total.

  9. Click cell I17 and enter a formula to calculate total purchase order amount.

  10. When you are done, save the document, close it, and exit Excel.

  11. Submit your Excel document via e-mail attachment sent to:
