Division of Business and Information Management,
Bristol Community College
Your last assignment in this course is making a PowerPoint presentation. You are free to select a topic for your presentation yourself. If you would like to practice an actual presentation in front of the group on the day of the finals, please submit your work early to obtain instructor's approval. If you plan to present, you should be prepared to demonstrate that you fully understand a field of your subject/research.
Once you are done with your research and preparation, decide which features you want to include in your presentation. Feel free to use as many ideas as you like from different sources, such as the library, the Internet, encyclopedias, books, reference materials, and other sources. Be sure to properly reference your sources.
If you are having difficulty starting, feel free to begin with PowerPoint Autocontent wizard. Topic of the presentation may be anything that interests you:
Business ideas are always welcome: present your business plan, a marketing plan, or sales presentation, etc., etc.
Present a brand new product or service at Design Fair or exhibit.
Build a presentation for use in a class or curricula.
Create a PowerPoint presentation about a personal hobby.
You have just been elected to hold a public office. Create a presentation to express your views.
Requirements for your slide show:
There must be at least 12 slides in your presentation.
Use bullet points to present key information of your presentation.
There must be a transition between each slide.
Clip art must be used on at least 2 slides.
You must use at least one picture in one of your slides. Photos and Graphics are excellent tools to illustrate key points.
At least 3 slides must be animated.
Include at least one action button or one hyperlink.
You must integrate one Excel worksheet or Excel chart into your presentation.
Extra credit will be given if each slide contains a slide transition, a sound, a background sound, a character animation, or a text animation effect.
Optional: depending on the specifics of your presentation, you may use other enhanced PowerPoint features, such as allowing your slide show to run unattended, as somewhere at an expo kiosk.
Useful guidelines:
Title Slide: Get attention right away with a memorable title slide. Remember to include your name as the author.
Introduction Slide: present your objectives in a way that catches audience interest.
Presentation slides: Using bullets, quiz your audience on a particular subject once in a while, and then present your own answer to the question or solution to the problem.
Design: choose your backgrounds carefully, they should unify the presentation and make it more attractive.
