26. x86 Opcode Summary

• x86 opcodes are represented by one or two bytes.

• Opcode could extend into unused bits of MOD-REG-R/M byte.

• Opcode encodes information about

  • operation type,

  • operands,

  • size of each operand, including the size of an immediate operand.
