File permissions track users and groups and can prevent unauthorized access to a file.
Additional time stamps and hard links were added.
In order to gain POSIX compliance, case sEnSiTiVe file names are used:
FAT saved everything in uppercase
HPFS, while it did save the case of a file's name, referred to the same file no matter how you mixed the case when opening it
Under NTFS

are all different files.
